Where's The Rails Community?
I've been astounded at the lack of a living social Ruby on Rails community. Of course there's the Wiki, and mailing list. 37signals seems to have a following, though it doesn't seem to be Rails centric. But I'm talking about something like Perl Monks.
I haven't been there in years, but Perl Monks was a great place to hang out and talk about Perl. Their secret was their experience based post voting system. People could vote on posts, and your experience was based on this. Your experience was directly proportional to how cool you were in the Perl Community.
Enter Rails Forum. There is a moderate amount of posting going on, and it's seems like it's starting to pick up. I think this will quickly become the place for the cool kids of the Rails world. They're begging for Rails based forum software, and hopefully thanks to a few Rails hackers they'll have one soon.
